Dear Colleagues and Friends, As a chairman of the 5th Asia Pacific Knee society congress it is my great honor to cordially invite you to Bali, the land of Gods where the meeting will be held on October 30th – November 1st 2008. This every two years events will be attend by many orthopedic surgeons around the world where they shared and exchanged their valuable knowledge with great enthusiasm. Indonesia has a privilege to host this important meeting.

The theme of the congress is “The Art of The Knee Surgery” where all medical specialties which are interest on knee come together contribute their knowledge to help people with knee problems. The congress consist 3 days meeting with approximately 200 scientific papers, panel discussion, symposia, poster exhibitions, technical exhibitions, instructional. Besides there will be instructional lecture present by outstanding knee surgeons around the world and hands on workshop.

The organizing committee will give a great efforts to make the congress rewarding and enjoyable while keeping and promoting mutual friendship Now we looking forward to your scientific contributions to this congress in Bali to ensure it a successful congress. I believe that you have productive and memorable participations in the congress, scientifically culturally and friendship among us.

Two awards: Chehab Rukny Hilmy awards for the best oral presentation and Koshino’s awards for the best poster presentations will be provided. Bali is an island with so many famous an excellent resorts on the world. The social events and the cultures of Bali will be a very good occasion for accompanied persons to spend. Everyday it will be so many cultural performances in Bali that will be interesting to watch.

APKS has organized its Congresses, first under the presidency of Prof. T Koshino in Tokyo, followed by the 2002 Congress in Taipei under the presidency of Prof. HC Liu and 2004 Congress in Ankara under presidency of Prof. MN Doral and finally the 2006 Congress in Seoul. The 5^th APKS Congress promises, under the leadership of Congress Chairman, Fachry Ambia Tandjung, to be the best meeting we have ever had in terms of scientific program and place of venue. The aim of APKS is intended for the enhancement of the knee science in Asia Pacific Region and achieving advances and consolidation of the society’s activity and friendship. Invitation To Participate - The Art Of Knee Surgery

“Welcome to the 5th Congress of Asia-Pacific Knee Society, Bali, Indonesia” It is my great joy to welcome you to the 5th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Knee Society in Bali, Indonesia, from October 30 to November 1, 2008. Indeed, many participants are welcome to join us from all over the world: from the Asia-Pacific region, the United States and Europe to engage in intensive discussion on knee disorders and their treatments.

In this 5^th APKS Congress a great deal of basic and clinical research works are to be presented on diagnosis, treatment and preventive medicine for knee disorders and surgical techniques and their clinical results. Knee surgery has now become one of the most important fields in orthopaedics.

Children and adult knee disorders, and their conservative and/or surgical treatments, orthopaedic sports medicine, arthroscopic treatments and various kinds of arthroplasties. Although we are now able to obtain a large amount of information from all over the world using information technologies, this congress will provide a lot of meaningful opportunities for face-to-face discussion and is sure to be useful to us all. I believe this congress will be one of the most important international conferences for knee surgeons. Finally, let me once again extend a warm welcome to all participants, with the wish that this four-day congress will be the most fruitful through many enthusiastic discussions and exchanges.
